Zoe Anderson

Brief Bio :

I am 15 years old, attend Chilton St James School and am currently
sponsored by V.I.C. Cycles. I was born in Lower Hutt and competed in my first
triathlon when I was six years old. I started competitive swimming when I was
eight with Watties Swim City, but in later years moved to Capital Swim Club
under Gary Hurring.

As my love for triathlons developed I joined triathlon and running clubs, and
soon became a regular at the local triathlons. My first championship race was
in 2003 at the College Sport Wellington Triathlon Championships, where I placed
4th as a 10 year old in the under 14 age group. Soon after I began cycle racing to
help my triathlon, which led to me competing in national cycling and triathlon
races since 2005.

I am now currently being coached by Eddie Bright, who, along with my sponsors
has enabled me to be where I am now.

The Future :

In the future my dream is to become a professional athlete and I trust I am making the right decisions to get there. At the moment I am aiming towards going to the London Olympics in 2012 where I will only be 20 and still developing towards my peak as an endurance athlete.

Along the way I have to have smaller goals in order to get to the big one, such as going to the Junior Cycling and or Triathlon Worlds in 2009. At present I am not quite sure which path I will take, and I will have to make this decision in the not too distant future. For now I am happy doing both. I think the most important thing along the way is to have fun and live, because half the journey is getting there.

When I leave school I also wish to pursue a career in sports science, and I believe that all of the critical non-essentials I am taking will make all of the difference, because ‘The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit extra.’

Brief Bio :

Date of Birth : 17 October 1990

Birthplace : Lower Hutt

Education : Student

Racing Since : 2005

In my early years I first was a very competitive soccer player, competing in variousNew Zealand Soccer Academy’s. But I found soccer frustrating because there were selectors that did not know the players but still had to select teams. So I thought at least with MTB racing, I don’t need anybody to select me because it was up to me and my bike to go fast.

I started Mountain Bike racing at the age of 15 where I won my first race which was a local MTB race and was soon sponsored by V.I.C. Cycles . They have been awesome and have helped me out a lot! – Thank you V.I.C. Cycles!

Now I have been racing for two years and I already have some good results including competing for my country.
